Lunch Box Scrap Book

So, my summer project is to purge clutter and to organize my life.  The first thing that I decided needed to be done was for me to finish all of the projects that were as yet unstarted or perhaps unfinished.

One of the many things deep in the dark recesses of my craft closet was a set of lunch pails that I had purchased at the Target $1 spot several years ago.  Sadly, I can't remember what the heck I was going to do with them but my scrapbook club had mentioned to me that they would like to make some mini-albums.  So, I thought I could easily come up with something fabulous.

Well it is almost time to say "Farewell" to the On Board Chipboard sale from Stampin' Up! It has been a fun month filled with lots of great ideas on how to use your On Board Chipboard.

This notebook was one of the many things that over the years I have purchased at Target and kept on hand for creative emergencies.  This particular notebook wasn't an emergency but rather just a fun thing that I wanted to do and share with my friend Melanie. She and I went to see "Sex and the City" and then out to lunch.

Melanie had had a bad week at work and there is nothing better to cheer someone up than a hand made gift.  She loved it.

31 Days of Stampin' Up! Chipboard, Day 29

Sorry for the delay on these last three entries, I had scheduled them to be done earlier and then when I checked back, I noticed I had scheduled them for 2009.  Good thing I am pretty fabulous at stamping--since it certainly isn't technology that is my strong point.

This highly textured home decor piece is so awesome in person that I wish that you could all touch it.  The On Board Simon Lower Alpha letters are each covered with velvet ribbon.  This ribbon is the awesome shade of Taken with Teal.  In order to do this, you will need to cover each letter with Tombow Multipurpose adhesive.  Then start with the bottom of each letter.  Layer on each piece of ribbon, leave the ends hanging until you completely cover each letter.  Then, use your Stampin' Up! Ribbon & Paper Scissors to cut all of the edges off.  If you have danglers, just snip with your paper snips or really sharp cuticle scissors.

The best part of this technique is that you get so much texture and it is so unique looking.  This particular one is mounted in a 5" x 7" photo matte so that my nephew can hang it up in his room.

31 Days of Stampin' Up! Chipboard, Day 23

  Aren't these fabulous?? At my Monogram Stamp Camp last Friday, lots of ladies came over to create awesome home decor accents or just great gifts.

They each started out with a black photo matte, and a plain chipboard letter from the On Board Simon Lower set.  Each letter was then covered with Basic Black Craft ink and then stamped with a small design in a color of their choice.  A coordinating background color was chosen to mount the letter on.

Then they got creative.  I had an entire tub of ribbons, wires, accessories and more that they could choose from to embellish their letters.

As you can see, Cori C., Marsha C. and Steph P. all made it happen with an eye towards creativity.  We had an awesome time and it was amazing to me how different everyone's letter turned out.

First off, I want to apologize that this is late, for some reason.  The entry was inadvertently erased although I had already entered all the information and it went ahead and posted on schedule--very strange!

This cutie was created as a gift certificate holder for a customer who purchased the gift certificate for a friend who is retiring.  She hoped that this would help her friend have more fun time now.

This piece of Stampin' Up! On Board chipboard is from the Blossoms & Basics set.  I inked it with Pink Passion Classic ink and then put Stampin' Dimensionals on the bottom of it so that it acts as a tuck-behind clasp for this envelope.  Isn't it fabulous!!

Aren't these new Flower Fusion felt flowers from Stampin' Up! just wonderful? I love to add them to everything and they are even fun just to play with them by stirring them around in the tin.

It is hard to tell in the pictures, but they are a perfect match to the Pumkin Pie, Rose Red and Old Olive colors, they have a gorgeous finish that almost seems to sparkle.

Binder Clips Baby, Day 1

Isn't this fabulous??  I was at a scrapbooking event this weekend--the UNO women's walk crop--and instead of scrapbooking because I forgot all of my pictures, I made these decorative binder clips for gifties to have on hand when someone does something nice for me.

Don't start thinking that I am a Stampin' Up! goddess for coming up with this... last month, when I was at the Stampin' Up! leadership convention in Palm Springs, they had some cute samples of decorated binder clips--and I fell in love.

I have made almost a dozen different designs and it is so much fun.  Over the next few days, I will be showing you my collection of binder clips.

How To Make a Paper Stocking

Isn't this fun and cute??  I love unique ways to package the mundane. 

My son is 15 years old and all he wants for Christmas (that I can afford) is cash.  So, he will get a stocking filled with some cash from Santa rather than the toys his siblings enjoy.

This stocking was very easy to make once I had a pattern.   Once I had that, I was ready to go. Download stocking_pattern.jpg

Start by tracing the pattern out--I actually traced it onto 12" x 12" cardstock even though the pattern is for 8.5" x 11" just line up the toe of the stocking with the bottom of the paper and then trace up to the top edge of the paper past the pattern.  See picture.

Once you have the pattern cut out, trace it and cut it again on another piece of paper--this will be your background piece.

Put Sticky Strip around the edges of the inside side of your top stocking piece.

Don't worry about following every curve, just make it a pocket--it would be difficult for the recipient to get stuff out of the toe.

Attach the layers together and decorate to your heart's content.

How to Make a Scallop Paper Edge

Finally, I have it done, I apologize that it wasn't up first thing this morning.  I find that I have to do what I am in the mood for at the exact moment I am in the mood or I lose interest, so when I woke up ready to work on the 2nd to last portion of my major assignment for my class, I decided to ride the wave--and
"Yippee!" I am finished with that--only 1 thing left!

Supplies: Stampin' Up! always!

Paper or cardstock, Slit punch, paper trimmer, some project that will benefit from scallops.

1. Cut your paper that will be scallops 2" x whatever length you need.  If you receive my newsletter, you know that I cut it in huge strips then just cut off pieces as I need them.

2. Line up the slit punch so that it is in as far as it will go on the paper and that one edge is slightly hanging off the edge of the paper--mine is hanging off where the red arrow is.  Punch.

3. Moving down the paper, continue punching but making sure that the edge of the punched slit aligns with the previous slit.  See where the red arrow shows.

4. Continue the length of the paper until you are finished.  Gently separate the scallops from the main piece.  If you didn't quite line up a few, just use your Stampin' Up! Paper Snips to help it along.

Once you have the basic technique down, you can go scallop crazy.  The ladies at my home workshop last night loved their make and take that included hand-made scallops.

Aren't these adorable??  Michelle B made these to give out to friends and family for Thanksgiving next year.  Yep, next year, she didn't see them in time to give out this year and decided that she couldn't pass this great project by.  What if Stampin' Up! had different paper next year??  So taking the idea from Splitcoaststampers, she got busy.

She is so sweet, she even gave me one to use for next year although I haven't gotten much Christmas planning done yet so perhaps I can still use it this year.  We'll see, I still have a few days left until Christmas.

Joyous Jars for the Holidays- Day 3

"C" is for "candy" and it's good enough for me!  Take this jar, add in a bag of Hershey's kisses and you will be at the top of Santa's thoughfulness list.

This jar is fun although it wasn't as quickly done as some of the others.  I used faux icicles to dress up the Wintergreen Designer Series Paper around the body of the jar and those take a little time to prepare.  What?? Did you just think "how do I make faux icicles??" Isn't this lovely??  There is something so satisfying about taking something that would otherwise be in the landfill and not very pretty at all and creating a masterpiece.

This jar is kinda fun in the fact that it is entirely stampless.  I used pattern paper and other accessories to make this so lovely!

Supplies: Wintergreen Designer Series Pattern Paper, Clear Buttons, Crystal Effects, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Sticky Strip, Celery Organdy, Mini Glue Dots, Coluzzle, Silver Elastic Cord, and Always Artichoke Cardstock.

Do you want to recreate these at home??  Use your Stampin' Up! Coluzzle to create the cover for the top: use the third line in from the outside edge on the circle template for the jar lids.  Use the 5th line in if you want to create the layer piece for the poinsettia.

Joyous Jars for the Holidays- Day 1

My step-mother brought me a little gift the last time she came over to stamp--she brought me four empty container jars that used to be filled with pistachios from Target.  Who do you think got me addicted to going to Target in the first place??

Anyway, I have been moving these jars around the house for the last few weeks just waiting for inspiration to hit.  Well, it did.  Over the next few days I will be sharing a jar a day with you that I hope will inspire you to try some creating of your own.

I used the Stampin' Up! Wintergreen Designer Series Paper for each of the projects--first, because it is still on sale for a few days more--buy 3 packs of any Designer Series Paper and get the fourth pack for FREE!  Love it!  Secondly, I feel that the picture in the Stampin' Up Fall/Winter Collection 2008 does not do this paper justice.  Some of you may have just passed it by.  Well, not any more!

This picture doesn't do it justice but the top of the jar is the reverse image of a snowflake from the On Board Trimmings from the Holiday Mini Collection 2007.  I sponged it all over with Whisper White Craft ink then coated it with Crystal Effects.   Then I sprinkled just a pinch of Dazzling Diamonds glitter all over the top.  It looks beautifully chilly in person.
